Monday evening I spoke to the Central Florida Offshore Anglers, a wonderful bunch of people. Thank you folks, for making me feel so welcome.
On Wednesday, Mr. Rattle himself, Larry McGlashan, joined me for a morning's fishing on the Mosquito Lagoon, just like last week! Again, we found some fish but they were not terribly cooperative. We used a variety of baits- jigs, Chug Bugs, and jerkbaits rigged on rattle hooks. We ended up with three redfish and about 15 trout to five pounds, although most were small.
Wednesday afternoon Dr. Rigo Carnejo joined me for an afternoon's fishing on the Mosquito Lagoon. Rigo tossed an Electric Sushi with a fly rod and had only five good shots. He ended up hooking two fish, boating one and breaking off the other.
Thursday Mike Arnold, a fly fisher from Kentucky, and my good friend Joe Mulson joined me for some Mosquito Lagoon wading. It was windy and overcast, making sight fishing impractical. We all got a redfish, and Joe and I got some trout, and Mike also got a black drum. So although fishing wasn’t great, we made what we could out of what we had. Just as I got the boat road ready it started pouring rain, so we got off the water just in time.
Friday Joe Mulson came over to my house about 2 PM and we went wading in the Econ for a couple of hours. We both got an Econ sunfish slam (bluegill, redbelly, and stumpknocker) as well as a couple of small bass, and ended up with at least two dozen fish between us, really a lot of fun.
Saturday I was out on the Lagoon again with Chris Foppiani and Megan Fox. We worked it hard all day, with little result. We got some ladyfish and a few trout, but no reds. Such reds as we saw, and it wasn't many, were lying on the bottom motionless. I always find them hard to catch when they do that. But it was a beautiful day and with the exception of a few rude boaters we had a good time.
Remember- life is short. GO FISHING!
Life is great and I love my work!!
