Titusville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Outstanding Catch Dept.- This week, very sadly, lacked any outstanding catches. See report below for the explanation.
Fishing has taken a nosedive this week. Of course after last week's spectacular action it would be hard for it to maintain itself, much less get better. Three things have happened to cause the decline: the water has risen; the fish have started moving; and the wind has been blowing well over 15 mph every day. Whitecaps and muddy water make for tough fishing conditions, particularly for fly casters.
Tuesday Karl Dienst and I got three reds on fly in a breezy half day. Yesterday Mason Wilkins and his friend Jay, fly fishers from Idaho, got one red in a windy full day. Today Kurt and Teresa Sleighter from Minnesota got one trout on a gold spoon in a half day with the winds blowing 18-20 mph. We wisely decided to quit before noontime.
When the wind stops blowing, or at least diminishes, fishing should get better. If you've got to fish in the current conditions try to find a lee shoreline that has a foot or so of water on it.
My next speaking appearance will be a seminar at Wilderness Outfitters in Kissimmee on April 1st. If the weather's not conducive to fishing, come on out and talk to me. Don't forget Angler's Day at Florida Fishing Outfitters April 15 and 16!
Fishing is great and I love my work!
