Titusville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Outstanding Catch Dept.- On Tuesday fly fisher and outdoor photographer (on vacation) Larry Aiuppy of Livingston, MT got himself a 36 inch, 16 pound redfish on a black bunny booger. fishing in the Indian River. It was his first redfishing trip and his first redfish ever. Great work, Larry!
The fish in the Mosquito Lagoon were abundant but very spooky this week, making fishing frustrating at times. It was not unusual to see several schools of fish in a day in very shallow water and yet have only marginal success catching them because they wouldn't let us near them. Bob Opitz got a couple reds on Wednesday by tossing a Johnson spoon as far as possible. One of the fish was a nice 29 inch specimen. Bob Deasy, a fly fisher from Connecticut, got his first saltwater fish on fly on Thursday. While throwing to a cruising redfish an unseen seatrout about 22 inches long nailed his fly. Good work, Bob! Serendipity works for me! Yesterday in the wind and rain the brothers Caprera, Bob and Dave, fly fishers from Massachusetts and Denver, respectively, got one nice trout (about 24 inches) and three tailing reds, respectively. You can find and catch redfish even when the weather is crap.
My next speaking appearance will be at Angler's Day at Florida Fishing Outfitters April 15 and 16 (this weekend), US1 1 mile north of SR 50 in Titusville. There will be refreshments available. I will be there Sunday only. For more info call them at 407 868 0000.
Fishing is great and I love my work!
