Titusville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Updated 4/27 Outstanding Catch Dept.- Pete Kazmier, soon to be Doctor Pete Kazmier, a flyfisher from Pennsylvania, got his first two redfish and his first flounder, all on fly, in the Mosquito Lagoon on Saturday. This in spite of this week's windy weather. The fly of choice was a weighted Seaducer, all grizzly in color. Congratulations, Pete!
This week really has been windy. Tuesday's trip was blown out and the rest of the week we fished anyway but struggled. On Friday last my son Maxx hooked and lost a big red in the Indian River, but then got three to 32 inches in the Mosquito Lagoon. Monday Jim Opitz and his son Mike managed one trout all day while blind casting in the Mosquito Lagoon. They did miss several strikes, however. Yesterday Barry Kent, an excellent fly fisher from Leesburg, managed only one trout all day fishing in the Mosquito Lagoon. Fish are hard to see with the wind and clouds, and they have still been very spooky.
We have still been seeing fish in the Mosquito Lagoon, although nowhere near as many as a couple of weeks ago. But the water has been roiled up from the wind all week and it's just been tough fishing, particularly for fly casters. I look forward to the wind diminishing...
Fishing is great and I love my work!
