Titusville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Updated 5/4 Outstanding Catch Dept.- On Friday morning I fished Tim McNicholas and Tim McNicholas, a father and son team. Fishing was slow, with a total catch of one redfish, one black drum, and one flounder, all from the Mosquito Lagoon. I fished them again on Saturday morning. We started off the day with a 40 inch, 21 pound redfish, caught by both Tim and Tim. Three more smaller fish followed, and there were some missed strikes and blown opportunities, as there always are in a day's fishing. But four reds to 21 pounds was the outstanding catch of the week. Congratulations, gentlemen!
The wind is still blowing. On Monday Bernard Furnival, a flycaster from New York, got his first three redfish on fly in the Mosquito Lagoon, an honorable mention to the Outstanding Catch. Yesterday Bill Perry and his friend Jerry, both from Maryland, got three reds on a half day in the Mosquito Lagoon. The bait was a Johnson Minnow. Today while out scouting in the Indian River I got two tough crevalle on a popping bug and two redfish on a Dupre Spoonfly.
There are still plenty of redfish in the Mosquito Lagoon. There are major numbers of jack crevalle in the Indian River, along with plenty of reds, too. Rumors of tarpon and snook in the Indian River are coming in. Jim Weber called me this week and told me several tarpon have already been jumped off of Homosassa. I love tarpon and I love Homosassa so I'll be going over as soon as I get a break in my schedule on the Space Coast. I have some tarpon dates booked down in Fort Myers too, so look forward to those reports.
Fishing is great and I love my work!
