Titusville - Saltwater Fishing Report

This week's report on the upper Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon
from Spotted Tail, updated 8/11
Outstanding Catch Dept.- Friday last Dr. George Yarko of Orlando hooked four reds and put two into the boat. The larger of the two was 40 inches long and weighed slightly over 25 pounds, definitely an outstanding catch. Nice work, George!
Due to home improvement and writing projects I only got out three half days this past week. One of those days was with Dr. Yarko in the Indian River. On Tuesday I had a flycaster from the Jacksonville area out on the Indian River. We saw tarpon, jack crevalle, trout, and two schools of redfish, one of which I stayed with for about 40 minutes. He didn't get a bite and we came in skunked.
Yesterday morning I took my son Alex out and we went to the spot where I saw the tarpon on Tuesday. We anchored up and watched them roll around us for almost three hours. We caught two sailcats, as the tarpon snubbed us completely.
Fishing is great, but catching varies. However, I still love my work!
