Titusville - Saltwater Fishing Report

This week's report on the upper Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon from Spotted Tail, updated 11/3
Due to cancellations and problems with my vehicle I only got out onto the Mosquito Lagoon twice this week. The water, although still high, is slowly dropping and is very clear in most places. Sightfishing is very possible and has been pretty good.
Tuesday I fished Mr. Bill Milligan of Christmas, in his 70's and owner of Dinosaur Outboards, specializing in antique and classic OMC motors. I bought my 1955 Evinrude 15 that I use on my jonboat from Bill. Anyhow, we got 8 reds to ten pounds and two trout four and five pounds, all in about four hours.
Yesterday I fished Dr. Bill Barnard from Orlando. We found a school of big reds and Bill hooked two on a Zara Spook. You would think with all those hooks nothing could get off of those plugs, but he lost both of them. He got one redfish while flycasting with a Dupre Spoonfly, a fish of about ten pounds.
We saw what can only be described as a complete moron in a bass boat ground himself out on a shallow flat in the lagoon. He tried to push the boat off with a pole. Lacking success with that he then lowered the motor and plowed out of there, tearing up huge masses of grass in the process. First of all he shouldn't have had that boat up there. Secondly he should have gotten out of the boat and pushed it off by hand. In spite of sometimes having to watch incredible stupidity...
Fishing is great and I love my work!
