Titusville - Saltwater Fishing Report

This week's report on the upper Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon
from Spotted Tail, updated 12/8
Schitzoid Weather, Schitzoid Fish
Fronts, overcast, and cold windy days have visited central Florida much of this past week. The changing weather conditions are keeping anglers on their toes.
Friday last I fished Dr. Bob Hicks. We had a beautiful day and saw a lot of (spooky) fish, including four decent sized schools, all in the Mosquito Lagoon. Bob got five reds. Although we saw several big trout, we were unable to get any.
Sunday I fished Spencer Marchant and his friend Jeff. It was overcast and windy and the temperature, chilly to begin with, dropped all day. We saw very few fish but managed to get two decent reds and five smallish sized trout, again all in the Mosquito Lagoon.
Wednesday was cool but a beautiful day. I fished Dr. Lou Payor up in the no motor zone of the Banana River. I had great expectations that were not met, but Dr. Lou did catch three reds on fly, lost another, and missed two strikes, all on the Black Drum Clouser. Not a superior day, but definitely not bad, either. We saw one small pod of black drum, about 10 fish.
Yesterday Jim Savage graced my boat. Again a layer of cloudes blew in and it was uncomfortably chilly. Fishing the Lagoon with Johnson Minnows and RipTide weedless jigs we got four reds and eight or ten trout to five pounds, not at all a bad day even though the fish were spooky and REAL hard to see.
Fishing is great and I love my work!
