Titusville - Saltwater Fishing Report

This week's report on the upper Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon
from Spotted Tail, updated 10/22
Water levels in the lagoon system are still quite high, making sight fishing difficult unless you find clean water and good light. We've had a lot of wind and clouds this week, and fishing was very tough because of it. There are still gamefish shadowing schools of mullet in the Indian RIver. Conditions have been too rough to get out of the port in a small boat.
Sunday last I fished Matt Belisle in the Indian River. He wanted to fly fish for redfish and in spite of the clouds and wind we tried it. He actually had some shots at fish. But the weather kept deteriorating, so we ended up at the power plant, where three and four pound ladyfish kept us busy for a couple of hours.
Tuesday I went out fly fishing with Mark Thomas. We looked around in the Mosquito Lagoon. High water, clouds, and wind made sight fishing tough. Although we saw a number of redfish, they were all laying up until we moved them. One ladyfish and two trout was our final tally.
Saturday I fished Dr. Jim Penrod and his wife Carol, fly casters from Tallahassee. Have I said this before? High water, clouds, and wind made sight fishing tough. Although we saw a number of redfish, they were all laying up until we moved them. One ladyfish was our final tally.
All in all it was a very tough week. In spite of that...
Fishing is great, and I love my work!
