What a week!
On Monday I fished Mac and Cherie Dye, from West Palm Beach. They wanted to fish for redfish. I suggested we fish for tarpon instead, to which they agreed. If you can imagine what tarpon fishing would be like in Heaven, that's how good it was. We had three separate triple hookups, and jumped at least 30 fish, never going longer than five minutes without having one on. Completely worn out, we left them biting, and were back at the dock at 1130 AM.
Tuesday Rodney Smith joined me, again hoping for some tarpon. It wasn't as good. It was just normal phenomenal. After locating the fish we had to wait about three minutes for the first hookup. We jumped at least 15 fish, with two doubles. We were back at the dock by 11 AM. To see pictures of Tuesday's fishing, please click on the following link:

Wednesday I had the pleasure of conducting a tour of the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and Canaveral National Seashore. My passenger was Carol Clark, the new Administrator at CNS. While we weren't fishing, I did see a lot of fish (and fishermen) and even caught a crevalle from a big school of breaking fish. A few things will be changing at CNS with Ms. Clark at its helm. She struck me as being intelligent, knowledgeable, and very capable.
Friday I again went looking for tarpon, this time with Dr. George Yarko. I knew it had to happen, but it was still heartbreaking. The fish were gone. No bait, no fish. We ran up into Spruce Creek where George got a seven pound snook on a Chug Bug, and I got another, smaller snook on the same kind of plug. It wasn't tarpon, but it did save the day. We were back at the dock at 1130 AM.
Remember- life is short. GO FISHING!
Life is great and I love my work!!
