Show and Tell coming up!
I will be holding one of my popular Show and Tell seminars at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge on October 22. During the course of this seminar we tour the refuge, stopping periodically so I can SHOW you where to fish, and TELL you how to go about it. The cost is $40 per person, limited to the first 20. Visit this link: http://www.spottedtail.com for more details.
My newest book, called How and Where to Catch Redfish in the Indian River Lagoon System, is at the printer. Designed to fit in a tackle box, it's a small book, 5.5 x 8.5 inches, 96 pp., with a retail price of $12.95. I am expecting to be able to ship the first copies out on October 20. I am offering a pre-publication special- if you order now I will pay for the shipping. This offer expires on October 15, so don't wait! For more information on the book, or to order, visit this link:

Now, the fishing report (and I again thank you for your patience!).
On Wednesday I fished the Nichols brothers, George and Paul, in the Indian River. We started off by getting on a small school (about 20 fish) of bull reds. They were less than cooperative. I poled after them for over a mile until George finally hooked one on a DOA CAL 5.5" jerk bait. Was fate to smile on the George and let him catch the biggest red he'd ever seen? No. The hook pulled after about five minutes. By then his buddies had disappeared. We caught lots of trout of a variety of sizes (although no real big ones) on a variety of lures. Then Paul spotted a red only a few feet from the boat. The fish grabbed his jig like it hadn't eaten for a month. Hit this link: http://www.spottedtail.com to see the photo. Lightning chased us off the water about 1 PM.
Yesterday my friend, fly fisher Gene Barrington from Atlanta, graced the Spotted Tail. We found the same school of big reds but had even less luck, not even getting a bite before they dematerialized into deep water. We found lots of trout and slot reds along a small stretch of shoreline but in spite of numerous bites and several hookups we only managed one of each, both caught on a small grizzly Deceiver. The trout was handsome! Hit this link: http://www.spottedtail.com to see the photo. Clouds hampered visibility and when it started raining we bagged it, about 1:30 PM.
