Titusville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Spotted Tail Report 10/31/05
This week’s fishing report from Spotted Tail, updated 10/31/05
Happy Halloween. Watch out for the ghosts and goblins tonight.
I only fished two days this week. Monday and Tuesday the weather was execrable.
Wednesday Shawn Healy and I went out of Port Canaveral. The mullet are definitely thinning out. We looked along the beach, going south of the Cocoa Beach pier. Seeing nothing, we then went out five miles looking for weeds, hurricane flotsam, or anything else we could find. All we found was dirty water. We finally came back in and caught a few mullet, and fished along the south jetty for a while. Shawn caught a 25 inch snook. I got a Spanish mackerel of about three pounds. That was it.
Friday I joined Ray Boone and Larry Thornhill on Lake Toho. Fishing was real slow. Larry got one bass of a pound or so, the only bite we got, on a jerk bait.
I was at the Florida Outdoor Writers Association conference over the weekend. Lots of new products were displayed, and I hope to be writing about some of them in the coming weeks. We had our Excellence in Craft awards banquet on Saturday night. I won three awards, the best of which was First Place in the Best Book category for Flyrodding Florida Salt. Yeah, that's good for marketing!
Upcoming Events-
-November- I am scheduled to teach a Saltwater Fly Fishing class on November 5th and 12th class at Brevard Community College, Cocoa. Call the school at 321.433.7530 to register.
-I will be tying flies at the International Fly Tying Symposium in Somerset, NJ on November 19 and 20.
Remember- life is short. GO FISHING!
Life is great and I love my work!!
