Kingfish Action Redhot Offshore of Venice

Capt. Dave Pinkham
April 13, 2008
Venice - Saltwater Fishing Report

The king mackerel run is in full swing on the west coast offshore of Venice. Aboard our charterboat Legacy we've been catching lots of kings with some big ones up to 40-pounds when we use live baits such as blue runners. When we are looking to catch larger numbers of the kings we stick to trolling big king spoons and the fish have been very cooperative.

For a change in the action we've been dropping some rigs to the bottom and catching lots of mangrove snapper and red and gag grouper.

On the deeper wrecks and springs we're starting catch some big amberjacks up to 50-pounds
