Carters Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Carters Lake Report for 11/13/2008
The lake is clear, 8 ft below full pool. Surface temps are 57 to 59 deegrees.
STRIPERS... The cool weather striper fishing is getting cranked up. Look for the big schools of bait fish around the mouths of major creeks and the Coosawatee River These schools of bait are what the stripers relate to at this time of year. If you find them the fish will be there.
The early bite has been best for us on 4 to 6" trout on free lines, and/or plainer boards 100 ft behind the boat. Just locate the schools of bait, put out your lines and cover the area being sur to pull the baits over any points and humps.
Later in the day go to down lines with the trout. Note the depth of the bait and set your lines just over the top of them. On clear sunny days or just after a front this may be as deep as 60 ft.
SPOTTED BASS... Early in the day try top waters such as the Zara Spook or Sammy on points from the mouths of creeks all the way back. Later in the day, look for the fish to lock up on brush piles and blow downs in 12 to 20 ft of water in the same areas. The Texas rigged finesse worm in watermelonseed, brown on brown jig & pig or dropshot rigs should pick up some nice spotts.
