Tarpon Fishing Charters - St. Simons and Jekyll Island Georgia
After a fairly long wait and scattered Tarpon pods (schools) over the past month, they're starting to have a little consistency.
Never think you've figured out a pattern with Tarpon in our area. If you do, you'll figure out that you don't. Tarpon are big eaters, so find bait... Find Fish. Period.
In these photos, Captain in training/First Mate Josh Cook, man handles a 90 pound Tarpon.
Before this on was finally hooked and caught, we flew (jumped) 2 more nice ones stacking up for the day at 1 for 3 that we actually saw. Several other hard strikes during that time with 'mashed' baits indicates more fish took aim at our baits, too.
The Bonus Fish of the day was a very nice Bull Redfish in the 44 inch range and around 35-37 pounds. Yes, in July! That's a sign of good things to come this season as we move into the late Summer months.
Good day on the water with a great crew from Wisconsin and some active duty soldiers from Ft. Stewart who were all family. A great group that we'll see again soon. We have fun on our Charters whether we catch fish or not... The fish are just a bonus, but friendships and being on the water means everything.
Fish on.. Rock on!
