May 13 Carters Lake With Firstbite.

Capt. Robert Eidson
May 14, 2009
Lake Allatoona - Freshwater Fishing Report

How high's the water Momma? Carter is every bit as bad as Allatoona, about 7' over full pool.

Robert called and ask if I wanted to do a little baitnapping, he also wanted to see if the hybrid bite was as good as we have heard on Carters. We launched from the dam ramp (almost from the parking lot). The courtesy dock catwalk is under water. Went by Doll Mtn later and the catwalk is above water if the wind does not blow hard. Did I mention that the wind was blowing hard?

We trolled what felt like the perimeter of the lake but actually was just from Harris Beach across to the marina, into Wooding, and down to the dam. Robert pulled in a 14-4 striper that hit a board like a 25#er and that was it.

After all that excitement we decided to go fill Robert's bait tank and headed up river. Found gizzards but one or two here and one or two there (but caught the same carp 5 times). After an hour of net throwing a thoroughly drenched Capt Rob decided to call it a day, off the lake at 2:00.

As usual, a great day on the water with Capt Rob. Even out "fun fishin'" he still makes it a great day on the water.
