Line side fishing is good and the lake is barren of anglers fishing for stripers. With a good numbers of fish being hybrid and spots we will get a striper or two every day using live bait. Use is working best and you can use flat lines, free lines and planner boards. The best times for this are early morning and late afternoon. During mid day find a point set up over a 30 to 40 foot bottom and down line. Most of the fish I caught this week came at 30 feet deep. Trolling medium all white buck tails on the umbrella rig 100 feet behind the boat is slow but can be worth the effort. Just keep moving and watch the Lowrance. The best depths have been from 27 feet to 35 feet. Humps in the mouths of the lower lake creeks have some schools that are willing to take live bait, trolling large lures or buck tail jigs. Be sure there are schools of shad in the area and work the same locations several times during the day. Keep an eye on the sea gulls all day. Victoria south is best. The rivers are still heavily stained. This means the by the first of next month the lake will be cover with them. If it holds true like last year this will be the best way to find feeding fish. The top water bite is getting better and seems to be best right at dark. A Jr. Fluke on a popping cork is best. Trollers your bite is good and may be the best bite on the lake. Use the Mack Farr umbrella rig right in the middle of the river channel. SPECIAL NOTE. Just because the lake levels are falling don’t think you can’t load the boat with fish. The best fishing every year is when the lake is at it lowest. Remember with less water this also means less boats and less fishing pressure. I look for the lake record striper to be caught this year. And I truly believe it will be caught by one of my clients. First Bite Guide Service has its boats wet slip on Allatoona. Even if all the ramps close. We will be open all winter. Please call and book your trip today. And remember fishing Trips make a GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFT.
