Lake Hartwell - Freshwater Fishing Report

Striper Fishing Report
Lake Hartwell
Water Level – Full Pool
Water Temperature- 76 Degrees
The fishing has been tough the last few weeks. After a great March an d April, the May bite has been tougher. The water temp. has fluctuated a lot with warm an d cold weather. The fish have been scattered from the backs of creeks and up the rivers, down to the dam. They have been very shallow and scattered around the banks. The water temp. is rising fast an d fish will be moving to deeper water. They will be moving out of the creeks and down the main rivers as the thermo cline starts to set up in the creeks and rivers. Fish will still come shallow early in the day, but will be deeper most of the time. Look for them 30 to 40 feet deep. In creek mouths and in the main rivers and main lake. They will still school early, so be ready to throw a top water plug. Free line herring will work early, but by mid morning fish a down line herring where you see fish on your graph.
