Lake Hartwell Striper Report

Capt. Preston Harden
December 31, 2009
Lake Hartwell - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Hartwell Striper Report
As of 12-28-09

1 Foot above Full Pool
52 Degrees

December has been good for vertical fishing with jigging spoons in about 40 ft. deep water. Watch for any gull activity to steer you to fish. The gulls stay near the striper schools. Throw bucktail jugs and flukes to schooling fish or drop a spoon to the bottom if you mark fish deep. The live bait bite is still good with free lines and down lines.

Look for the bait and fish to migrate to the larger stained creeks as the water temp gets below 50 degrees. Fishing will get technical as fish get selective and eat tiny shad in shallow water.
