Father's Day Lake Lanier Striper Fishing

Capt. Scott Collins
June 21, 2010
Lake Lanier - Freshwater Fishing Report

With the heat of summer beaming down on us fishing is great right now on Lanier. We are catching most of our fish on down-lines fished 20-30 feet below the boat in the Mid-lake area. Some fish bigger fish can be found out over main creek channels as the thermocline is just now developing. The smaller Stripers are still relating to points and heavy brush in the 30 foot range, some of these schools of fish are huge with an abundance of 2 to 6 pound fish. Fresh bait and patience are the key to success this time of year. It's a great time of year to get introduced to Stiper fishing, the action is fast and anyone can put fish in the boat. The surface temp. is 86 degrees; there is a high mortality rate this time of year when trying to catch and release Stripers. The last couple of days I have seen some really nice fish belly up. Getting the fish back in the water fast using the torpedo release method is vital to the survival of the fish. We have been blessed with a great fishery and its up to everyone that fishes the lake to help maintain it the best we can. Call 678-634-3408 for rates and availability.
