Lake Lanier - Freshwater Fishing Report

Shane Watson Guide Service Report 07-06-10. The striper fishing has been very good most days on Lake Lanier since my last report. Downlined bluebacks fished 30 feet deep over a 35 to 45 foot bottom for the first 2 hours or so have produced well. After the sun gets up high, downlined bluebacks fished 30 to 50 feet deep over a 60 to 80 foot bottom have worked best. The morning and afternoon have both been good. Leadcore fished 9 colors out at 3.0 mph on a white 1 oz jig, tipped with a live blueback is also producing some nice fish. We've caught and released many, many stripers the last 10 days up to 20 pounds on our boats. Fish in the mouths to the middle of creeks and on main lake humps and points for best results. Mid-lake and south are best for size and numbers. I went up north over 4th of July weekend to avoid the boat traffic and did well in the mouths of deeper creeks, but the bait dies on the hook up north pretty quick. Mid-lake and south, the bait will do better on the hook. Fish up on points and humps early and then further out as the suns gets high. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service, Hammond's Fishing Center, and Carolina Skiff Boats. Good Fishing.
