Lake Lanier - Freshwater Fishing Report

Shane Watson Guide Service Report (12-20-10). Since my last report, the striper fishing has been up and down depending on the weather and where you are fishing. The northend that was so strong for me last week has slowed down as the water temps up there dropped quickly after the ice, snow, and cold weather came thru. We had some 25 to 50 fish, catch and release mornings up there, but the last time I went north a few days ago, it was slim up there for me. We came back down the lake and the fishing improved mid-lake and south. Capt. Mack's 4 arm shad body u-rigs have produced best. When the birds have been diving and the fish have been close to the surface, freelined bluebacks, small trout, and bucktails have worked well. There are stripers in the middle to the rear of just about every creek you go into mid-lake and south. I know there are fish still up north, but it's not like it was up there last week for me. Keep moving until you find active fish for best success. Blind downlining over deep bait is hit or miss at best. The store now has bluebacks for 4.99 per dozen. The Guides, Staff, and Families of Shane Watson Guide Service, Hammond's Fishing Center, and Carolina Skiff would like to wish everyone A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. We Appreciate Your Business. Good Fishing.
