Lake Lanier - Freshwater Fishing Report

Shane Watson Guide Service Report (07-21-10 thru 08-08-10).The striper fishing has been very good most days since my last report. We went down to Panama City on vacation and I've been out everyday since coming back. The king mackerel and amberjack fishing was great down there on jigs, dusters, and on cigar minnows. The beaches were great and the water were perfectly clear with no signs of oil. We saw a lot of oil clean up workers sitting around everyday, but there was no oil. Everything seemed pretty normal down there, the roads and the restaraunts were crowded, but there weren't many charter boats running. I hate to see how this deal has affected the charter industry in Panama City. They've had no oil, the fishing is great, and the water is perfect. They blame the media as much as BP for their losses. Back here, I had boats out on trips everyday since my last report. Since I came back earlier this week, the leadcore bite has been on fire using a white 1 oz. jig, 9 colors out at 2.5 to 3.0 mph. White trailers, paddle tails, and live bluebacks are all working well on the jigs. Live bluebacks on a downline fished 30 to 50 feet deep over a 70 to 100 foot bottom are also working. Mid-lake on further south is producing best. Look in the mouths of creeks, the mouths of deeper coves, and over the channel. This report is brought to you Shane Watson Guide Service, Hammond's Fishing Center, and Carolina Skiff Boats. Good Fishing.
