Lake Lanier - Freshwater Fishing Report

Since my last report, I spent some time in Panama City FL and did some fishing. We did very well on red snapper and keeper sized grouper fishing with live cigar minnows and pinfish over 100 foot structure. Snapper season was closed, so we had to release these fish, but the numbers and size were very good. I hope the powers to be down there re-evaluate this snapper season, as we have seen great snapper fishing for the last three years. It's the best snapper fishing we've seen since the 1970's. We also caught 10 big red fish up to 25 pounds on downlined pinfish and live cigar minnows in the pass, at the tip of the kiddie pool. While I was down there, we had our boats out on morning and afternoon guide trips daily on Lake Lanier. I have been out daily since returning and nothing much has changed since my last report. Leadcore fished 8 or 9 colors out with a chartreuse blue 1 oz Capt Mack jig, tipped with a live blueback or chartruese paddle tail is still working. We've had some great downlining at times when the fish have been active and thick of the screen. The main channel and the mouths of creeks continue to be best. The weather is cooling down out there and the temps are comfortable. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service, Hammond's Fishing Center, Carolina Skiff Boats, and Batteries Plus. Good Fishing and We Appreciate Your Business.
