Fall Fishing for Crappie is not Far

Capt. Doug Nelms
August 17, 2013
Lake Oconee - Freshwater Fishing Report

Even though the water is really warm on Oconee, the crappie are doing really great. It appears they will continue right into the fall bite! The fall bite is when the bigger fish began to show up, and we go to our full spider rig set up.

I think this is going to be an extraordinary crappie fishing season over the next few months. Right now, on a typical half day of fish we are boating between 30 and 40 fish, so I can't imagine how it will be when the water starts cooling off.

The weather this weekend has prompted the fish to bite and we are looking for great days just ahead. If you are interested in getting in on this exciting bite call me at 770 354 0300 or visit our website at www.bigfishheads.com

During the hot summer months he heads to the Chattahoochee River to pursue monster Striped bass. He fishes from a custom jet boat, built exclusively for fishing the river.
