Hot Weather Stripers

Lake Oconee - Freshwater Fishing Report

June 3, 2008

Water Temp is 84 at Sugar Creek

The shad run has ended and we are getting back to fishing as we know it can be on Lake Oconee. Yesterday afternoon we boated 4 really huge stripers and hybrids, and caught the biggest one casting to it. When you start catching them casting jigs to them, you can tell they are ready to go crazy.

The fish are starting to stack up around the middle of the lake and we are about to get into a big summertime bite! The fishing will stay in this pattern until it just gets too hot to fish. These are really great times to catch a lot of fish and feel how they bite with ferocity! Yesterday with the 8 pounder I had no, you could feel him shake his head as he was ripping drag like crazy. The bite during this time is very similar to a red fish bite.

Look in Sugar Creek, Port Armor, and everywhere you can find humps in the middle of the lake. Live bait is still working great and you can find all the bait you want at the Hwy 44 Bridge.

Good luck

Doug
