Lake Oconee, Madison Georgia

Lake Oconee - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water Temp 89

Clear throughout the Lake

Just when you thought it was about over…….., That seems to be the line we have been using over the last 3 weeks. Sorry the report is so late but the last few weeks have been CRAZY! The hybes have shown out for us and we have been boating record catches, steady for some time now.

I have just gotten off the water after a 31 fish day. Some of these fish bumped the scale at 8 pounds. I had just about given up on these things, you know, pull the boat out, turn the A/C on and just wait for October, but I have been catching fish right now better than we have done all year long.

The fish are on the usual humps down the lake and if you can catch 5 to 7 inch shad, and keep them frisky, you will have no trouble loading your boat up. I have been catching them on free lines and down line and today we caught 3 on Super Spooks after the started schooling, yes 7 and 8 pounders schooling. Who would have thunk it?

Call me if you want to get in on the action and hopefully it will last another 3 weeks. Tight Lines

Doug

His boat is a Ranger 2300 Bay Series powered by a 225 Yamaha 4-stroke motor. It is spacious and can fish up to 6 people! Lake Oconee is the second largest reservoir in the state of Georgia with over 18,000 surface acres of water. The lake is heavily stocked each year with Striped and Hybrid Bass. Doug tries to catch all of them!
