Lake Oconee, Madison Georgia

Lake Oconee - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water Temp 65

The water is still warm and the fishing has taken a major slow down. Over the past few trip with hybes I have only caught a few fish here and there. However the largest school of hybes I have seen in a long time showed up in double creek; for about 2 minutes.

I would suggest loading your rods with 3 inch sassy shads and ride around looking. When you see the white bass schooling, throw into them and there will be hybes under them.

Live bait is also the preferred bait to use. I would try looking in Double Creek all the way to Lick Creek. Keep going till you find them.

Don’t worry, it will get better.

Tight lines.

Doug

His boat is a Ranger 2300 Bay Series powered by a 225 Yamaha 4-stroke motor. It is spacious and can fish up to 6 people! Lake Oconee is the second largest reservoir in the state of Georgia with over 18,000 surface acres of water. The lake is heavily stocked each year with Striped and Hybrid Bass.
