Lake Oconee, Madison Georgia

Lake Oconee - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water temp is 47 at north end

Can you believe this weather! It feels like Key West and it is the middle of January and the fish are acting like it is already spring time. Unbelievably the crappie moved into shallow water this week. Anglers were catching them just like they do in April. Some of the fish went over 3 pounds! Now, if you were not there fishing dont think you can run down there next week and find them doing the same thing.

It was because the water warmed up so much. The hybes are trying there best to find shad, and if cold weather would prevail we would get a shad kill and it would be on. Right now if you can put several nice fish in your boat you are beating the odds.

The gulls can be the key. If you find them try dropping spoons off the bottom and if the fish are there they will let you know. Good luck and give me a call if you want to go chase em.

Doug tries to catch all of them!
