Lake Oconee, Madison Georgia

Lake Oconee - Freshwater Fishing Report

November 23, 2007

Water Temp is low 70’s

The lake level for Oconee is dropping on a daily basis. As of my knowledge, right now, there are no official boat ramp closings, however there are a few that are touch and go right now.

Sugar Creek Public is alright if you have a small light boat. While trying to unload this week a fellow angler couldn’t get his boat off the trailer. I had a hard time getting unloaded at Long Shoals over a week ago. I have found that Lawrence Shoals is still accessible and there are probably several more. I would just call the respected marina before you go out.

But, this is a fishing report page, right! So lets talk about fishing. IT IS WILD! The fishing this time of the year is always awesome, but I think it may be better than ever. River Bend is holding a lot of fish right now and anywhere down the lake is good. Little Stone Mountain is a great place to look. One of my friends said some guys were fishing up the river and found some huge crappie holed up in a small pot. With no-where for the fish to go, they wore them out. I don’t think it would be any good for you to ask where they were, because that info was not volunteered, but there are probably spots all up the river like this.

We are taking trips each day and we have patterned these fish pretty good. If you are interested give me a call. We might find some holed up too!

His boat is a Ranger 2300 Bay Series powered by a 225 Yamaha 4-stroke motor. It is spacious and can fish up to 6 people! During the hot summer months he heads to the Chattahoochee River to pursue monster Striped bass. He fishes from a custom jet boat, built exclusively for fishing the river.
