Stripers are back and Hungry

Capt. Doug Nelms
December 30, 2016
Lake Oconee - Freshwater Fishing Report

This is the start of our wide open, big mad striper bite on Lake Oconee. The water has dropped into the 50's, the bait is grouping and the fish are gorging themselves. The best bite is in the morning and we are boating between 30 - 50 stripers and hybrids on every trip we take.

The big fun part of all this is we are casting artificials at the fish, so however many you want to catch is totally up to you. It is only going to get better as it gets colder. Contact me to book your trip right now!

Doug is a licensed USCG Captain and has been guiding over 14 years. His specialty is trophy Striped Bass, and huge Crappie during certain months. His boat is a Ranger 2300 Bay Series powered by a 225 Yamaha 4-stroke motor. It is spacious and can fish up to 6 people! During the hot summer months he heads to the Chattahoochee River to pursue monster Striped bass. He fishes from a custom jet boat, built exclusively for fishing the river. BigFishHeads Guide service operates year round.
