Here Comes Spring Fishing! St. Simons Island Fishing Report

Capt. TJ Cheek
March 1, 2012
St. Simons Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

We didn't have much of a Winter but I am still looking forward to Spring and the Tripletail, Cobia, Sheepshead, and everything else that will come with it.

We've had some good catches of Trout and Redfish recently as well as Black Drum and Sheepshead.

On the nearshore reefs there have been way too many Black Sea Bass... yes, I'm complaining about having too many fish. Hopefully one day the Feds will come to their senses and let the season stay open. Until then, we will be taking advantage of the Summer Trout (Weakfish) and Redfish. The Sheepies will be eager takers if we can weed through the Sea Bass.

St. Simons Island Fishing Forecast:

Look forward to more opportunities on the Georgia Coast as the Whiting, Bull Reds, and Tripletail move in. The Reds and Trout should find some company from the Flounder soon as we have already been catching a few stragglers.

Flip Flop weather is almost here!
