St. Simons Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

What a beautiful day in the Golden Isles of Georgia. The day started out with a kind of slow bite but after about an hour into the outgoing tide the bite really picked up. At first the trout were biting really soft and more or less just pecking at the bait until they finally took it. There again once the tide dropped they got a lot more aggressive and really nailed the shrimp. Most of the fish were on steep banks sitting in 7-10ft of water and they were sitting on the bottom. They would only hit a slow presentation I really had to take my time and pick the spots apart but it paid off in the end. All of the fish were caught on live shrimp under a popping cork none were caught on artificial I guess they were not interested in what I had to offer them today. At the end of the day I caught 14 keeper trout ranging in sizes 14-18 inches and 1 throw back but all were released to catch again another day.
The redfish bite on the other hand was a lot slower but still ended up catching a couple of nice redfish. One of them were caught in 8ft of water where the trout were and the rest were caught in a 2ft or less of water at the bottom of the tide. For the most part the reds were hitting Berkley Gulp shrimp new penny color and pearl white and one was caught on live shrimp.
The day could not have been any better blue skies and clean water a much welcome break from the wind and cooler temps. Fishing will only get better from here please contact me if your interested in a trip. The triple will be here soon I can not wait triple tail fishing is my favorite time of year.
