St.Simons Island Fishing-Capt.Richard Latham

St. Simons Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

3/25/09
Wednesday started out like most mornings on St.Simons Island, beautiful. The temperatures were warm,in the 60's,with a light south wind.We decided we would target Redfish, since the water was murky from the higher tides. We pulled into a favorite Redfish drop of mine, and noticed a lot of activity. The birds were going crazy on a group of baitfish,so we dropped anchor.Within a few minutes we saw our first "tail".The bite was slow intially, even though we could see and reach the fish with our baits. However, after the tide dropped the fish turned on.We boated 3 Reds over 27 inches and had 7 ranging from 16-23 inches. The fish were definitely taking a live shrimp over our soft plastics.
