Mako shark and spearfish

Capt. Dale Leverone
April 30, 2011
Kona - Saltwater Fishing Report

We took Sal and Anthony Navarra from San Francisco out for a half day fishing on Sea Strike on 4-28-2011. It was a slow day but on the way in we got a strike from a spearfish. Sal brought it in fairly fast and we noticed the tail had been bitten off. I gaffed the spearfish and put it in the boat, removed the hooks and tossed the lure back in the water. To my surprise Sal says I got another one on ! It was a Mako shark, the same one that had just bit the spearfish. You never know what is going to happen out here. We also had some action with large tuna earlier in the week.
