Louisiana - Venice & the Gulf of Mexico

Capt. Damon McKnight

Venice - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tuna Time Again!

The Tuna and the Wahoo are showing up down here in Venice full force. We are catching a lot of yellowfin tuna and blackfin tuna as well as wahoo around the rigs. Some of the wahoo have gone as big as 80lbs. It is good to see them again.

We made it out yesterday with Matt Melon and friends/clients from all over. Headed out to the Tuna grounds and were greeted with calm seas. I was expecting it to be at least three foot, but once we got out it was nice. We caught 1 yellowfin 80lbs., 3 blackfin, and 1 A.J. We only lost 1 blackfin at the boat, other than that we caught everything that bit. It was a little slow, but I was fortunate enough to be in very good company. Canceled today due to the weather forecast. Hopefully we're back out tomorrow.
