Louisiana - Venice & the Gulf of Mexico

Capt. Damon McKnight
February 22, 2004
Venice - Saltwater Fishing Report

It's That Time Again!

The offshore fishing down here in Venice has finally reached full potential. Our tune bite started a little late but it is definately on. This week has been incredible with the amount of yellowfin and blackfin tuna that has been caught. Yesterday two yellowfin over 200lbs. were weighed at the Venice marina fish scale along with numerous others over 100lbs.

The wahoo have been thicker than ever. Everyday the boats are bringing in 3-4 on the average with at least one over 60lbs. in the mix. The fishing is hotter than ever right now and should remain this way thru March. The weather has coooperated this week, although it has been horrible for the first half of February.

Till the next report,

Capt. Damon McKnight
