Boston Harbor - Saltwater Fishing Report

STELLWAGEN BANK,MA- Cod Fishing & BOSTON HARBOR-Stripers 6/26/04
Cod fishing continues to be excellent east of Stellwagen Bank in the deep-water. Haddock, cod and pollock are making up the catches using skimmer clams. Depth from
200-350 have be the most productive this past week. B-Fast’s JANET B is fishing tomorrow and again on Wednesday with Jack Eng’s group form Nanuet, NY.
Both, the B-FAST fly boat and B-Fast’s BAY FLY fished most of this past week in Boston Harbor and Minot’s Ledge off Cohasset for stripers. The early morning surface action improved greatly in the inner-harbor bays with bass feeding on silversides on the outgoing tide. Ed Ajamian and friend Bill from Atlantic Highlands, NJ lived up to their reputation as “Highliners” on their two-day fly and light-tackle charter Thursday and Friday. Two keepers, 37” and 32”, took the epoxy-head herring pattern on the long-rod, weighing in at 20 pounds and 12 pounds, respectively. Bassin’ assassin’s fished on ¾ jig-heads produced two keepers at 34” and 31”. Numerous school fish between 20 and 27 inches were brought to the boat. This was the best morning action of this late-starting season.
B.J. “Garden Hackle” Morgan and friends from Malden, MA had their annual two-day trip charter on the BAY FLY. Saturday’s trip produced five keeper bass between 29 and 31 inches—two on the long-rod for Morgan and three on texas-rigged slug-gos. Once again, silversides were the main bait-fish. This fishing should continue to improve as more bass migrate into the Boston area and the water temps increase.
