April 11, 2008 Cod and Haddock Fishing on Stellwagen Bank

Capt. Rich Antonino
April 12, 2008
Stellwagen Bank - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well, many, many more fish today as we fished mostly on the top of Stellwagen Bank. Our cod and haddock trip left from Green Harbor and we headed north today...There was a ton of life on Stellwagen and the cod and haddock were very cooperative. Of course, lots of these fish were small, but we did have a great flurry of cod and haddock that were mostly keepers. We bailed fish like those for almost 2 hours! The rest of the day was spent culling through loads of small fish and moving around from school to school looking for a group of bigger fish.

The weather was perfect and it was great just cruising around at 30+ mph. I love days like that. When the fishing slowed down, we ended up in deeper water and started hitting the red fish pretty well--we didn't let it go on too much--we were there to catch cod and haddock, so we headed back to the Northern edge of Stellwagen Bank and that's when the keepers started coming over the rails quickly. Good call, Ed!

The new second bow rail and pulpit are finally operational and the platform for fishing on the front of the boat is wonderful! It's great for jigging, but it will be amazing for running-and-gunning for tuna come tuna season! See you soon out there!

We're the small charter specialists for private 1-4 person groups and shared charters. We fish where the fish are--cod/haddock on Stellwagen Bank, huge sea bass in Buzzards Bay, bluefin tuna on Stellwagen Bank, sharks off of Martha's Vineyard and Wildcat Knoll, Stripers off of Provincetown. We have a great website; visit us often and meet us as friends. We have lots of fun out there and cater to both the novice and veteran alike. Our rates are great and you don't have to get 6 people!!
