Stellwagen Bank - Saltwater Fishing Report

I really had a blast today. It was work finding the fish today; good rewarding work. It was the first "tough" day of fishing. That is not to say that the fishing was bad. In fact, it was very good. What it does say is that we didn't have any two-hour drifts with consistent action. Many of the drifts were 300 yards long. We'd find feeding fish, catch 3-7 and then do the drift over and over again. There was a lot of moving!
Once again, the word today was haddock! In fact, we didn't catch one keeper cod. It's ok when you get a pile of haddock. I do prefer haddock to cod of the same size. We didn't catch one small haddock. We did catch 8 small cod. And we did get a pile of haddock. It was great filleting fish all day! Catching fish like that and actually working hard to catch them was rewarding.
I heard stories of people catching 200 small cod, keeping 30 of them!!! That's a lot of reeling. Thusly...I liked our catch-to-keep ratio on the haddock.
We had three doctors on board today, but no one got hurt. The investment guy kept all of his secrets to himself...LOL. Great people. When someone drives in from Pittsburgh to go fishing, I repsect that! I love repeat customers who bring good friends with them. It's a great compliment. Seeing these guys sleeping on the ride home. Not only were they tired, I can't imagine how sore thew would have been on Sunday from reeling in all of those fish!!
Well, see you out there!! Surprisingly, I have then entire weekend available next weekend if you are thinking of a fish fry!!
