Stellwagen Bank - Saltwater Fishing Report
Sunday, April 29, 2007 Light tackle cod fishing on Stellwagen Bank
Today was a tough weather day, but the fishing action was excellent. The pouring rain in the parking lot was short-lived, thankfully. The fog was never really "thick", but it was around us for much of the day. The cruise out was smooth enough; but the ride home with the waves was done at 30+mph and it was great.
We hit the cod after trying a few spots early. And when we hit them, we hit them hard. We had all 4 customers on at once several times and there were a good deal of keepers on many of our drifts. We fished the morning in one spot on the western edge of Stellwagen Bank, and then we moved away from the crowds and really did well. We didn't catch anything too large, but the fish really jumped on the line. Once again, it was all jigging, and mostly jigging with the light tackle. Of course, now we're one rod short....
I gave the casting demonstration to end all demonstrations....with my rod flying out of my hand in into the wtaer, never to be seen again!!! That was embarrassing. What a fun time, once again and if you're interested in getting out there, drop us a line! captain@blackrosefishing.com or give me a call at 508-269-1882. Have fun out there!
We're the small charter specialists for private 1-4 person groups and shared charters. We fish where the fish are--cod/haddock on Stellwagen Bank, huge sea bass in Buzzards Bay, bluefin tuna on Stellwagen Bank, sharks off of Martha's Vineyard and Wildcat Knoll, Stripers off of Provincetown.
We have a great website; visit us often and meet us as friends. We have lots of fun out there and cater to both the novice and veteran alike. Our rates are great and you don't have to get 6 people!!
