Stellwagen Bank - Saltwater Fishing Report
Great shallow water cod/haddock fishing on the Black Rose on Stellwagen Bank. The weather is perfect!!
It's all coming together for the cod and haddock. We had action ALL DAY. Lots of shorts, but we bailed them on light tackle all day. We're talking fluke-sized tackle. It was a blast. We used 4-8 oz jigs/teasers/bait. Repeat customer and professional bass fisherman Joel St. Germain fished his Okuma Induron reel once again and landed more fish than he could count.
His friends laughed all day with the crazy bending rods and nice fish. It was nice catching haddock in 100' of water. I love this type of fishing. The conditions were perfect---a SW breeze in the morning blowing us to the grounds, then no wind for the rest of the day. The drift was perfect and we held bottom with 30# test braid and light jigs. It was easy, fun, and exciting. Lots of whales on the Northern part of Stellwagen Bank. We hope to see them all again.
My cousin, Sonny, joined us today for his first time on the Black Rose. He's here from California for vacation. Great getting him out there finally.
We look forward to getting out there as much as possible in the next couple of weeks as the fish are really biting right now! This SW pattern will also bring the sea bass up into Buzzards Bay. Give us a call at 508-269-1882. Surpisingly, we have room this HOLIDAY WEEKEND FOR A LAST MINUTE CHARTER!!
