Stellwagen Bank - Saltwater Fishing Report
Two trips Sunday--family fishing and a SCUP MASSACRE!!! Tons of big fish in Buzzards Bay!
Family fishing today for my customers! And Buzzards Bay trips are perfect for that. Big news was the huge, 6' leatherback turtle that swam by our boat off of Wings Neck!!!
There were lots of schoolie stripers breaking early, and the huge schools of scup(porgy) kept everyone busy who wanted in on the action. We kept enough to fillet up for dinner and worked on shooting for the sea bass in the area. We hit them here and there, but both father and oldest son landed real beauties! The largest was 4 #, 12oz. It was amazing. I love getting families out there to get together and have fun on the water.
AFTERNOON TRIP. This was a scup(porgy) collection trip. I laughed all day with the numbers of big scup that my 5 friends pulled in. Being Greek, the scup is a very social food and they went home happy. Matt. Matt. Matt. Matt gutted and rinsed all of the fish before packing them all in ice with more than enough ice for the hundred of fish they caught!! He was a mess and didn't stop cutting the entire time on the water!!! Rest today, Matt.
We hit a handful of nice sea bass in the mix and had one small bluefish take a drifted bait. The drift was slow, almost non-existent today, which made staying over the schools easy (without anchoring). What a blast. I'm still laughing from the fun!
We're the small charter specialists for private 1-4 person groups and shared charters. We fish where the fish are--cod/haddock on Stellwagen Bank, huge sea bass in Buzzards Bay, bluefin tuna on Stellwagen Bank, sharks off of Martha's Vineyard and Wildcat Knoll, Stripers off of Provincetown.
We have a great website; visit us often and meet us as friends. We have lots of fun out there and cater to both the novice and veteran alike. Our rates are great and you don't have to get 6 people!!
