Stellwagen Bank - Saltwater Fishing Report

Who wants to go striper fishing? Let's go Tuesday and/or Wednesday. I think that I witnessed some of the best striper fishing imaginable on Saturday and it wasn't a "fluke". It looks like a developing pattern of fish in these areas. I want to capitalize on it and do it now. I have room on either day for a shared or private charter, so let's go. The cost for a shared charter is $225/person (groups of 1 or 2).
So, how was the fishing? I took my son and he hooked up on his first cast ever for a striper. Nice 30" fish on a Cotton Cordell Redfin from Fishermen's Outfitters in Plymouth. It was the last cast we took with a lure with treble hooks! Immediately, all three of us were hooked up with keepers and I wanted the chaos to be kept to a minimum. We live-lined baits, used bucktails, sluggo-like lures, vertical jigs. We'd find the fish and the battle would be on. I don't know how many 30-40" fish we released, but it was incredible. We kept our 6 fish and broiled it up that night.
Compared to cod, six striper fillets really goes a long way. Don't worry about the 2 fish/person with stripers. The fillets add up. And they're delicious. Plus, it's one of the most incredible fish to fish for. Our boat is perfect for this type of fishing; there is plenty of casting space in back and in front, and the cabin makes the ride back and forth amazingly comfortable. The cabin also blocks the wind for those that choose to sit in back on the swingback chair.
Get out there soon; I'll have video from today's trip up and running soon. Capt. Rich Antonino, Black Rose Fishing Charters, loving life. 508-269-1882. If you're up for a shared charter on Tuesday or Wednesday, my son is dying to join you; it's last minute, so I'm not expecting a full boat! Right now, I want two people and I'm going. Rich
