Jc Sportfishing Weekly Fish Report.
As the Admiral Seas It
Fishing Report: 10/4/14 to 10/12/14
Stop by Our Office for up to Date Fishing Report.

Thanks Everyone for Your Understanding!!
(Update on JcSportfishing)
Hello everyone I first want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding. I want to insure everyone that I am still trying to get everyone deposits back to them and want you all to know if you haven't heard from me yet, please email me as we are getting back to normal but there still has been some issues with internet.
I want to let you all know that Cabo is coming back together very fast with all streets cleaned and all services back on normally. The good news also is that all major tournaments are still on and the Bisbee is going on as planned. The flights did start coming back into the Los Cabos airport on October 8th and I have heard the flights coming in are full.
So things are getting back to normal and its time for all you guys to go ahead and come on down to Cabo as everything is open again and the weather is really nice. Beaches look good and I think there is some good deals on flights. The fishing report will start coming out every Monday from here on out and I ant to thank everyone again for your support and we look forward to hearing from you when you arrive in Cabo. You can always come by the office and get the report first hand straight from the horses mouth and I am the horse.

We are so glad for this and for you guys who have supported us and looked over the fishing report the last 2 and a half years we are grateful. This week we have had some fisherman show up to town and we are starting to get back to our normal routine of catching fish and offering one of the best Sport Fishing Charters in Los Cabos. Now on with the report.

WEATHER: The weather was really nice over the last 10 days with mostly sunny days and it seems as if temperatures are cooling a bit in the day time and at night. We are starting to pick up that north October breeze at night. Not a big change yet, but you can feel a change in the air and I said day time was not as hot and humid as it was during the storm and about 2 weeks aftert the hurricane.. So this is all good news for us as we don't need any more storms coming our way and I think we are pretty much done with that until next summer. Hopefully!!!
WATER: We still have really warm water on both the Sea of Cortez side and Pacific side also. The water temperature averages 83 to 85 degrees, which is pretty warm still but good for Marlin and Dorado fishing.Go to this link which will show you water temperatures for the southern half of Baja. http://www.tempbreak.com/index.php?&cwregion=cb
BILLFISH: Marlin fishing has been excellent as of lately with the Marlin hot spots in the same areas as the Dorado from Gray Rock to Rancho Migrino. I am not saying they are only catching Marlin in this area, but the Pacific side seems to be hotter than any of the other areas, so we will go to where the fish are!!! Live bait and lures and I don't want to leave this out, if you want to go for Sailfish this same area has been hot with Sail action. So if you don't get a Marlin you have a great chance of getting a Sailfish!!!! Either one will offer you some great action and I want to point out also that theses have been pretty calm making for a smooth ride.
DORADO: Dorado fishing has been off the hook from Gray Rock to Ranch Migrino and most fish being caught are 16lb to 28lbs. They seem to be hitting lures, Caballito and striped bait. Most areas have been pretty wide opened for Dorado over this past week, but the areas I have specified are the hot spots.
TUNA: The fishing has been really good with lots of small Tuna being taken over the last week. Gray Rock has been producing using Sardines with real light line and small bait hooks, but the fish are small with anglers catching them from 8lb to 10lbs but lots of them are being landed. One big Tuna was reported and landed down at Gordo Banks and it tipped the scales at over 250lbs.
INSHORE: The inshore action has been good on small Tuna and lots of Dorado. Tuna being caught on Sardines and Dorado on a mix batch of lures, live bait and striped bait. There also has been reports of Grouper and Red Snapper being caught off the rocks in Peregal using cut bait and fishing in the rocks at about 30 to 50 feet in depth. Just watch out for swells and this fishing is good if you are in a Panga.
Bisbee Tournament is on!!!
Bisbee's Black & Blue Tournaments
October 21 – 25

HURRICANE ODILE UPDATE: The Bisbee tournaments will take place as scheduled. The Bisbee team has established a Los Cabos Hurricane Relief Fund with an initial donation of $250,000.00. All funds collected through the relief fund will help support the residents and businesses of Los Cabos by providing emergency housing and emergency funds for local charter boats. You can help through an online donation at https://BisbeesConservationFund.org/Donate/CaboRelief.
Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.
From The Admirals Kitchen is Open Again!!
(We had the Kitchen Closed for 2 Weeks but were Open for Business!!)
Cabrilla (Mexican Sea Bass) with Cilantro Lime Sauce and Grilled Corn

I love cilantro with fish. I don't know why, it just tastes good to me. Add in some lime, lime zest and olive oil and I think you have a pretty good and quick sauce. The dish needs something to give it some body, so I tossed on some grilled corn. The cilantro and corn combination is killer, particularly when you add in some lime. For the topping on a delicate and sweet fish, I thought it would be a winner that wasn't overpowering. We enjoyed this delicious fish with a fresh side salad with garden tomatoes and a homemade Dijon vinaigrette. Just delicious.
Makes enough for 4 entrees
Ingredients:
4 fillets of Spotted Cabrilla or other flaky, thick white fish
Zest from 1 lime
Juice from 1 lime
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 bunch of cilantro
2 ears of corn, shucked
Salt & Fresh Cracked Pepper
Light the grill and set to high heat. Lightly coat the corn with olive oil or cooking spray. Place on the grill and cook about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally. Bring inside and slice off the kernels. Break up the kernels in a large bowl and set aside.
In a small food processor or a blender, combine the lime zest, lime juice and cilantro. While the machine is running, drizzle in the olive oil until the sauce emulsifies. Keep the machine running and add a pinch of salt and some fresh ground pepper. Set the sauce aside.
Heat a large non-stick frying pan. Add a four count of olive oil. Salt and pepper the fish. Add to the pan and cook, without moving, about 3-4 minutes depending on the thickness of the fillet. Carefully flip with a spatula and cook to desired temperature. I like my fish more well done, so would cook for another 3-4 minutes. Most people would probably cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Plate the fish. Spoon some of the lime sauce over the fish and top with the grilled corn kernels and a piece of cilantro for color. The pan searing should have made a crisp exterior to the fish and the corn adds a nice sweetness and crunch. The cilantro lime sauce ties everything together for a great main dish. This would be wonderful with some grilled asparagus or some sautéed green beans with garlic and lemon zest. It went great with our salads and come to think of it, would probably have gone great with some fresh tomato topped iwth a pinch of salt and cilantro. Whatever you pair this with, keep it light and fresh.
Pour some of your favorite Chenin Blanc or a Viognier in a wine glass and enjoy. I know we did.
BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You dont want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon.
