Pisces Weekly Fish Report

Capt. Tracy Ehrenberg
November 21, 2016
Cabo San Lucas - Saltwater Fishing Report

November 5th to November 11th, 2016

Overall catch success rate, all species combined: 82%

Numbers at a glance: Billfish 32%, Tuna 33%, Dorado 41%, other 16%

This week we saw catches become more diverse, with a wider range of game fish caught. Many boats caught a varied amount of dorado (the main catch this week), yellowfin tuna, striped marlin and even a spearfish. While we also saw interspersed catches of wahoo, sierra mackerel, roosterfish and snapper aboard those boats that went for inshore fish. Fishing was much closer in that it has been with the striped marlin bite out at the Finger Bank. We saw boats still mostly fishing the Pacific side, with a few trying their luck off Punta Ballena and some miles straight out from the Arch as well. The Pisces Bill Collector went out to the Finger Bank and had an impressive 10 striped marlin caught and released, the fish ranged from 100-190lbs on the 8th. The 9th saw the Pisces Valerie land three striped marlin (two released), three dorado of 20-25lbs, two red snapper of around five pounds and a 30 pound wahoo. A really nice mixed bag of fishing, from large to small game; all this was out at Las Margaritas for a group of anglers from British Columbia, Canada. While the Pisces C Rod, caught and released a 110lbs blue marlin, as well as a 107lbs yellowfin tuna on caballito live bait, for a group of anglers from Shreveport, Louisiana.

We still saw a lot of boats catch big tuna this week, with the Pisces Knot Workin captained by Tito Olascoaga catching the largest tuna of the week, a 199lbs yellowfin that was landed out at the 180 Spot for some anglers from Ripon, California. The boat repeated its success a day later, landing four yellowfin tuna, ranging from 20 pounds up to a 150 & 191lbs tunas, this was about five miles out from the San Jaime bank, for a group of anglers from Alabama. The Pisces Tracy Ann had a fun day n the 9th for their anglers from Arizona. They went about 30 miles out to the 120 Spot and landed six dorado in the 20-25lbs range, as well as four yellowfin tuna. With one of them being a very respectable 143 pounds.

LOCATION: Mostly on the Pacific side, the 120 Spot on some days, closer to Cabo on others.

WEATHER CONDITIONS: Mostly clear and sunny skies throughout the week. Average air temperature around 84 F.

BEST LURES: Caballito live bait, cedar plugs, green lures, feather lures.
