Bay St. Louis - Saltwater Fishing Report

Great day on the water yesterday. Had Joey Robinson, his brother John, and friends Adam and Richi. This was the trip Joey won at the Toast to the Coast Event last year. Calm water and little to no wind. Water was dirty at first few stops with just a few trout. Yes, the gnats made a good showing. I was watching Capt Matt knocking the heck out the reds when none of us could take anymore. We ran till we could fish in peace. Worked out awesome for the both of us. Our boat found some nice trout and good redfish. Capt Matt and his crew punished the sheapshead. Most of our trout bite would shut down when the redfish would come through, but these guys were having a ball wrestling the big bulls. Ended the day with 26 nice keeper trout 3 smaller reds and several bull releases. I don't know Capt Matts numbers, but he was at the cleaning table for a long long time. Ran out of the Marsh Works Shrimp, but they have been working great. Popping corks with 18' of 20lb flouro leader to a 3/8 ounce jig head has been doing all the damage. Been tipping the jigs with dead shrimp for the redfish. T-shirts and sandals all afternoon yesterday, FINALLY!!!!
