Bay St. Louis - Saltwater Fishing Report

Today I had one of my regular crews, the Paul group. Paul brought his wife Toni, Billy and his wife Michelle. Paul found time to fit in a little fishing between tanning sessions. "Just a little crack at Paul, Love you man." With the forecast, we all had high expectations of the day, which the day delivered. The conditions were perfect, light winds, calm water, and Billy cracking jokes at me, the captain. I am starting to see a pattern in my clientele.

The day started out slow, could have been the bright moon last night, maybe the low water. Either way we could not find more then a couple of fish at each stop, and then like a light switch something happened. Could have been my decision to get red fish off Billy's mind and get back to searching for trout. It was at the end of the high tide and it was a good bite of quality fish. Most of the fish were in the 2lb range and hitting like freight trains. The trout were taking 2ft of line off the reel on the strike, quite impressive. I wish we would have had more time on that bite, but the tide quit and so did the bite. We went back to red fishing and found a couple more to fulfill Billy's thirst for the fight. We ended the day with 49 trout and 4 reds(released 3 others). Great day on the water!!
