Bay St. Louis - Saltwater Fishing Report

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! All the Shore Thing Captains were busy. With all the wind before and during the weekend, Bay fishing was the name of the game. I did managed to make my way away from the bay two of the four days, and came away with a few trout and red fish to show for it. I spent one day catching black drum and one catching red fish with the John Clemons crew. The second day, the red fish day, we had almost thrown in the towel. We had spent all day searching for that one pond or lagoon that would be full of reds to only find one fish. We made one final stop in the dirtiest, nastiest, fresh looking water I have ever seen. Jason, the young man of the crew, threw out a dead shrimp under a cork, and BAM! Red! Then Bill, BAM! Red! J.C, BAM! Red! And finally Dan landed a red. We did that for the last 45 minutes of the day. They were not all in the slot, we only boxed 9, but it was non-stop action, and a great way to finish two days of fishing.

Saturday I had John and Ashley who had their hearts set on red fish, but were happy to be black drum fishing, considering the stout winds we were getting. They had a great time catching and releasing black drum all day, and we had a few reds in the mix. I am not sure, because I did not keep count, but we released around 30 black drum. They were a great group, who I am looking forward to fishing again.

...And then one of my long time favorites the Tally crew. The Tally's have become more like friends then clients, and I am always happy to fish with these guys. Even if Kyle, Luke, and Joseph eat and drink everything on my boat, and not to mention the hard time they give me when the fishing is slow. Kyle always seems to be the ring leader in the captain bashing, but karma may have caught up with his antics, as he watched everybody catch red fish after red fish, without one taking his bait. He also got a popping cork to the face by a certain someone I will not mention. All that aside we had a great day and put together a decent box of fish 20 trout and 7 reds. Until next time boys...
