Bay St. Louis - Saltwater Fishing Report

I had a great trip today with Cole and Jacob. Their dad Greg treated his boys to a Shore Thing "Experience". I thought 5 o'clock may have been to early for these two college boys, but to my surprise they showed up on time. We beat the sun to the grounds this morning. Within the first few cast, we put some beautiful 2lb speckled trout in the boat. We would catch a few nice trout and then smaller school trout, and then move 50ft to find the good ones again. Cole and Jacob worked this pattern until their limit was in the boat. We had all we needed before 8:30, then went searching for reds. I wish my boat drafted a little less, because we found a few, we just could not reach them. These fish stayed just out of casting distance in the back of the pocket. We were able to snag a few reds for the box. We capped the day off with a triple tail caught by Cole. Jacob had one on and lost him to the structure. I think he was more disappointed about not bagging that trophy stingray he searched for all day, than missing that triple tail. It was a great day with Cole and Jacob. They boxed 50 speckled trout, 4 reds, 1 triple tail, and 1 flounder. All the trout were caught on Marsh Works Bayou Thumper. Was very impressed with my new 30 class Okuma Cedros, it did a number on that triple tail and a 25lb bull red we released.
